Applied Linguistics

  • two years of one foreign language
    Note: Applicants must complete a minimum of one year of college-level courses in one of the selected language to be considered for admission, though completion of intermediate/advanced courses is strongly preferred. Completion of at least one year of high school in which the primary language of instruction was the selected language may be substituted for lower division language preparation.
  • one course in introduction to linguistics
  • one course in introduction to applied linguistics
  • two courses from:
    • language and social interaction
    • language and gender
    • anthropology (culture and communication)
    • introduction to psychology
