Why I chose UCLA: When it came down to choosing colleges, I wanted to be at a place that challenged me academically but more importantly a place I felt at home. College is so much more than learning in the class because you become like the people you surround yourself with. And the type of people I met when I visited UCLA (and continue to meet as a student here) were both kind and passionate about their majors or their jobs or UCLA in general. I knew immediately that this was the kind of person I wanted to be, and to be able to live in and learn in an atmosphere of collaboration and genuine kindness with some of the brightest students in the world has made me so proud to be a Bruin.

Why I chose UCLA: For most of my life, I had very little interest in UCLA. Being close to home in the traffic of Los Angeles wasn't exactly my cup of tea. However, after being convinced to go on a campus tour with my friend, I was shown a totally different side of the city and I started to think very highly of UCLA. After applying and being accepted, I was deciding between UCLA and several other major universities. Westwood felt like home right away on Bruin Day and I have been in love with the balance of UCLA ever since. I absolutely love UCLA even more than I ever dreamt I could, and I am forever grateful for all the opportunities I've been blessed with here, all because of just one tour. Go Bruins!

Why I chose UCLA: UCLA was always among my top choices when I was applying to college. After I got in, I was so excited to come visit. The moment I arrived on campus, I was amazed by the beautiful campus and the surrounding area. I also noticed how enthusiastic and passionate the students on campus were. As I learned more about the campus, such as the amazing academic and extracurricular opportunities, I knew that UCLA was the place for me!

Why I chose UCLA: As a Los Angeles native, I grew up in a big UCLA sports family, always attending games and sporting Bruin gear. Like many prospective students, after coming to visit the campus a few times and drawing closer to the end of my high school career, UCLA quickly became the school of my dreams. However, it wasn’t until I had been accepted and visited the campus for my orientation that I began to truly understand what made this school so special. Everyone I met was so involved, driven, welcoming, and completely filled with pride to be a student at UCLA. Every day since, I have easily fallen in love over and over again with the campus diversity, the incredible professors and the opportunities they have to offer, the new perspectives that I have the privilege to encounter on a daily basis, and overall the honor that it is to be a Bruin.

Why I chose UCLA: Throughout high school, my heart was set on UC Berkeley; I never really opened my mind to other schools. It was not until a UCLA representative came to my high school that I started to consider attending UCLA. UC Berkeley was thrown out the window the minute I stepped onto campus during Open House. The campus was just so beautiful and I felt right at home. To me, UCLA is the complete package. Not only are we a prestigious school, but UCLA students have immense school spirit. I could not imagine myself at any other school. Go Bruins!

Why I chose UCLA: I honestly did not start seriously thinking about where I would attend school until the end of my junior year in high school. I always knew I wanted to attend a school outside of Florida because I wanted to experience a new environment, but wanted to stay in a warm climate. I applied to four schools: one in-state and three out-of-state. I ended up visiting UCLA during my senior year, which was actually the first college I ever toured and fell in love. The beautiful campus, location, food, people, the list goes on about what made me want to attend UCLA. I chose UCLA over the other schools I applied to because I knew I would be challenged in ways I never experienced before and would have access to the best resources, plus the prestige of the school would resonate after I graduate. I am in awe each day that I get to attend the #1 public university in the country!

Why I chose UCLA: I honestly never thought that I would be a student at UCLA. As a transfer from my local community college, my plan while I was there was to transfer to the Cal State nearest me, and commute from home. However, as I was applying to different schools, I decided to include UCLA as one of the UC's to send my application to, just to see if I could get in. Low and behold I did, and now I am proud to say that UCLA is my home. I couldn't be more grateful to attend a school that has turned my whole life around in the best possible ways! I have fallen in love with the rigorous academics, the beautiful campus, the many organizations, and the rich social life. Even though my time spent at UCLA is shorter than those who attend as freshman, I feel so lucky and blessed for the opportunity to attend the #1 public university in the country. I know that the experiences I will gain from being at UCLA will be ones I'll never forget.

Why I chose UCLA: I never really gave much thought about colleges until my last year of high school. Being a huge sports fan, I knew about UCLA's athletic history as well its prestigious academic reputation. However, once I started my research on colleges, I was really drawn in by the most important ranking of them all ... the dining halls. I felt that UCLA not only offered me great opportunities but also that the people here were happy with their lives and enjoyed every minute of the Westwood lifestyle. UCLA was great option for me being a well-rounded individual looking for the perfect balance of academics, athletics, social life, and a great location. From the moment I stepped foot on campus I knew this was the place for me and I have not looked back since.

Why I chose UCLA: I made my decision to go to UCLA when I was eight years old after going to my first Rose Bowl game. My parents were both UCLA alumni, and, as you can imagine, surrounded my childhood with so much Bruin apparel that I was dreaming in blue and gold. Fast forward to senior year of high school and I had finally gotten into UCLA. At the time, I was at an international dance competition and the opposing team had just finished performing when I got the acceptance email. This sent me into a fit of screaming and yelling out in pure elation and joy… which confused my teammates who saw this and believed that I was cheering for the opposing team. It was very clear that I wanted to go to UCLA but I wasn’t 100% certain so I decided to attend the admitted students tour during Bruin Day. The combination of the sunny weather, wonderful people, and tour convinced me to commit to UCLA that very day and I haven’t looked back since.

Why I chose UCLA: My college decision period was filled with curveballs and I only selected UCLA the night before the deadline. I was looking a college with undeniable campus energy and an enormous amount of activities. I had faith that UCLA could deliver this and WOW has it. I love that what began as a half-hearted commitment to UCLA has become an authentic passion for this phenomenal university and the talented, caring people of the Bruin family.

Why I chose UCLA: As an incoming transfer, I was sure that adjusting to any school was going to be a task. I had heard stories of the difficulties that transfers faced upon joining four-year universities and I was overwhelmed with an anxious feeling when it came time to decide on a school. UCLA, however, welcomed me with open arms. Upon my acceptance, I began receiving phone calls from clubs and student organizations congratulating me and making me feel part of a family that I hadn't even officially joined yet. The second I set foot on campus for Transfer Bruin Day, I was greeted with the warmest of smiles, the most open of hearts and an unparalleled sense of community that runs through the whole school. In that moment, all my fears disappeared and I knew that I had found my new home at UCLA.

Why I chose UCLA: My college decision was one of the toughest decisions in my life. There were multiple factors that I had to consider: cost, academic rigor, and the social lifestyle. And, there was only one university that fit all three: UCLA. From the amazing staff to the high-intensity football games, UCLA provided me with everything I wanted and more. The aesthetic environment defines the beauty that is UCLA. I have not only found a place to spend the next four years of my life studying, but also a place to call home and Bruins to call family.

Why I chose UCLA: To me, choosing UCLA meant that I didn't have to make any compromises. It has awesome academics, vibrant student life, amazing professional and personal resources, and a beautiful campus — everything I could hope to have as part of my college experience. I remember standing in De Neve Court on The Hill (UCLA's residential community) after my admitted students tour, looking around at the dorm buildings and seeing Powell Library in the distance, and feeling in my gut that UCLA was where I belonged. I still feel that way today.

Why I chose UCLA: I did not think I even had a chance at getting into UCLA. When applications came around, I clicked the box next to UCLA with a lot of hope, but very little expectations. As soon as I was lucky enough to get admitted though, there was really no question where I would be going to college. The reputation surrounding UCLA was so strong that I knew I was coming here before I had even visited the campus. After visiting Bruin Day, I know I had made the right choice, and would soon be part of something really amazing.

Why I chose UCLA: Since I was a kid, I always came to visit campus for sporting events or things like the Festival of Books. In my 7-year-old mind, the campus was always the coolest and biggest thing I had ever seen with buildings that looked like castles and stairs that led to the sky. With that mindset, UCLA was always the dream, even before I knew what college was. Throughout high school, all I cared about was doing what I had to do to make it to this school. Once my admissions decision came in, I had no doubt in my mind that UCLA was the only school I wanted to go to.

Why I chose UCLA: Prior to admissions decisions I didn't have any idea about where I wanted to go and hadn't visited any college campuses. I was met with incredibly inviting people, a warm and welcoming campus environment, and introduced to the endless amount of opportunities available. These experiences have continued into my third year and I have grown so much through being surrounded by inspiring and passionate Bruins, dedicated faculty, challenging academics, and involved in amazing organizations and extracurricular activities.

Why I chose UCLA: Throughout my entire life, I had always planned on staying in Arizona. Both my parents went to school in my home state, and my older sister did as well, so I had always assumed I would follow the same path. The end of my junior year was when I first really considered going out of my comfort zone, and going out of state for college. UCLA was definitely a dream for me. I applied because of a suggestion from one of my peers, and as I learned more about UCLA, the more I felt it could be a perfect fit for me. After getting in and going to Bruin Day, I decided to attend UCLA and have not regretted it since! UCLA has given me so many opportunities and every day I am more proud to be a Bruin!

Why I chose UCLA: When searching for colleges, I wanted a big school with a prominent athletics program and prestigious academics. I would choose UCLA 100 times over again!

Why I chose UCLA: I literally still think I'm in a surreal dream here at UCLA. My senior year of high school, I had no expectations about any college nor had a dream school in mind like my peers did. "It wouldn't hurt to try," I thought, as I clicked "UCLA" on a whim. During the college decision season, I was still figuring out where I wanted to end up. I'd visit colleges every weekend leading up to decision day. Throughout the month, I was left in awe by UCLA and kept those thoughts and feelings in mind during my visits. When staying with a friend on campus, I immediately felt so welcomed into the community that I wanted to stay a part of. I was left fascinated by the passionate, friendly, and humble student body. Returning again on Bruin day, this sense of community was reiterated throughout each student and faculty that I had interacted with that day. UCLA is unique, vibrant, and a place where students and faculty inspire one another to be the best version of themselves every day. As a student now, I see this throughout my daily interactions here at UCLA and am forever grateful that I have the opportunity to call this my home away from home. Choosing college is essentially choosing your home - who you want to surround yourself with, your lifestyle, and of course, for the high-caliber education that universities offer. Considering this approach to college, I knew that UCLA was the home for me.

Why I chose UCLA: Throughout high school, I had never given too much consideration on which specific college I would want to attend. Unlike many of my peers, I didn't necessarily have a dream school, only a strong desire to attend college. By the time college acceptances rolled around, I was questioning where I wanted to go. Stepping onto UCLA during Bruin Day, however, gave me all the answers I needed. The campus simply radiated boundless energy and optimism. Everyone I met were so welcoming and inspiring as they spoke of their own passions and why they personally decided on UCLA. By the end of the tour, I knew that UCLA was a place where I would not only be supported by incredible faculty and peers, but a place where I could be myself and call home.

Why I chose UCLA: When I first arrived at UCLA for Bruin Day, I was immediately welcomed by a strong sense of community. All of the friends I've met, the faculty I've had the privilege of learning from, and the inspirational role models I've gained have made UCLA a home away from home. Bruins are incredibly hard working and motivated individuals, but they're also kind, inclusive, and helpful. My decision to attend UCLA was a decision to join a network of optimistic, empathetic world changers and I hope that as a Bruin Ambassador I can help give students the same opportunity to join this incredible student body.

Why I chose UCLA: In high school I always envisioned myself at A university but I never would have imagined myself at THE number one public university in the nation. When I first stepped foot on this campus at 16 I just knew I wanted to come and be like the students walking past me. In those moments I didn’t think about my statistics I just wanted to figure out a way to get in because I knew how hard I worked for my education. My dream school became my reach school and soon after became MY school, MY home. I am grateful for UCLA because it felt welcoming and as a first generation Latina I wasn’t afraid to step out of my 400 student high school into a 31,000 student university. I chose UCLA because I felt at home that one day I visited campus with my high school. I chose UCLA because they understood that as a first generation student I would need many resources to navigate the curriculum and the campus as a whole. I chose UCLA because regardless of where I was from and the experiences I went through growing up, the University wanted me just as much as I wanted to be a part of it.

Why I chose UCLA: As a little girl, growing up with a mom who was a total hippie, I always dreamed of attending UC Berkeley. When I received my acceptance letter, I was so excited to fulfill my elaborate college fantasies of reading books on a grassy lawn, and studying all night long in the library. However, when I visited Berkeley I just didn't get that life-altering feeling. So I decided to visit UCLA on Bruin Day, and I fell in love immediately. I got chills watching the orientation video featuring the amazing accomplishments of our alumni, and I knew I was amongst individuals intent on changing the world. I still get this feeling when I walk by Royce Hall, or hear about another one of my peer's new community service project. UCLA has not only lived up to my childhood college expectations, but exceeded them.

Why I chose UCLA: I fell in love with UCLA after attending the Southeast Asian Admit program for new Bruins. I had the opportunity to stay in a dorm with a student for a couple of nights, eat in the dining halls, and learn more about my identity. UCLA also helped me in terms of scholarships and grants, so higher education was very affordable for me and my parents.
